Reverse Mentoring at the Next Level

What I've always believed

I've long been a fan of what I call "intergenerational skill sharing" - reverse mentoring as it tends to be known.

I've always adored working with and leading younger people. So much to learn from them, great energy and not limited by "the curse of knowledge."

Since I started coaching nine years ago I've allocated some of my personal time each week to mentor younger people who either found their own businesses, are struggling with their careers or sometimes are just a bit lost.

What I've gained

I've learnt so much, and equally we've cocreated different ways of being and positive psychology approaches to what they seek and how to get it, upping my skillset for coaching.

In return I've learnt tons about the mindset, drivers and values of Millennials and Gen Z. Both very different to people older that I've coached. I also adore seeing them flourish, via business success, heightened personal performance and as great humans.

The wisdom deficit

There's a growing wisdom deficit at work currently. For every 5 Boomers leaving work, only 2 Gen Z are joining. Taking massive domain expertise with them, the key knowledge and skillset needed to develop and adopt AI in organisations.

So if you're one of those leaving, what can you do to mentor those joining? Because it's much harder today for those under 30 to get on the ladder at all, let alone grow and climb.

The question

Who could you walk, sing, or dance alongside from a different generation that could benefit both of you?

It can also be a lot of fun.
